2008 Bridge Work
Club members completed work on four bridges over two beautiful weekends in October. The club rebuilt two bridges, including the “Pepper Bridge” located off the Stokes Westernville Road in the Town of Lee, and the “Camroden Bridge” located off the Camroden Road in the Town of Western. The club also moved the bridge on the towpath near the NYS Fish Hatchery back into place, and moved a bridge formerly used on the west side of Route 46 to a new location along the east side of Route 46, eliminating the need to ride on the shoulder of the highway. A big thanks goes out to everyone who helped out and to Millie Piersall for the photos!
Towpath Bridge Photos (below) — This bridge is located near the NYS Fish Hatchery. The club moved the bridge back into place after it had been removed earlier in the year for catching debris in the creek. Club members working on this project included John Beggs, Larry Casalelnuovo, Jim Newbill, Darwin Piersall and Mark Destito.
Route 46 Bridge Photos (below)— The club moved a bridge formerly used on the west side of Route 46 to a new location along the east side of Route 46, eliminating the need to ride on the shoulder of the highway. Lots of leafpeeping traffic made this project a challenge during transport. John Beggs, Larry Casalelnuovo, Jim Newbill, Darwin Piersall and Mark Destito got the job done.
Camroden Bridge Photos (below)— The club stripped, redecked and signed the bridge near Camroden Road. Workers on this project included Darwin Piersall, Millie Piersall, John Beggs, Brendon Gatley, Ev Aldrige, Mark Destito and Larry Casalenuovo.
Pepper Bridge Photos (below)— This bridge is located off the Stokes Westernville Road, across from the former J.F. Pepper Company. A complete redecking of the bridge was completed by John Beggs, Larry Casalenuovo, Darwin Piersall, Steve Tyler, Dave Legare and Mike Yager.
