2010 - ALL TRAILBUSTER SNOWMOBILE TRAILS ARE OFFICIALLY CLOSED FOR THE
SEASON. The Trailbusters wish to extend a thank you to all of the very gracious landowners who allowed the use of their land during this very successful snowmobiling season. As we state every year, motorized vehicles of any type, including ATV’s and dirt bikes, are not permitted to use the trail system during the offseason. The only exception will be for club volunteers who will be closing gates and fences and removing signs. If anyone would like to help take signs, fences and guide stakes down, please give Mark Destito a call at 336-1727. If Mark doesn't answer, please leave your name and when you are available to help on his answering machine and he will get back with you. This task can be a good time as you get to see our trails without snow while riding on our Polaris Ranger. I hope everyone has found the daily grooming report helpful in planning their rides this season. We intend to continue this service next season. Thank you to the groomer drivers who reported daily to our groomer coordinator John Beggs, and to John for his daily phone call and update. March 7, 2010 - OUT OF RESPECT TO OUR LANDOWNERS, ALL TRAILS SOUTH OF WHALEY ROAD (at OD 10C - the Penn Mountain Connection) ARE OFFICIALLY CLOSED. This is to include all trails on Sly Hill, to Western, North Rome and Lee Center. Additionally, all grooming has been suspended. We will reopen the trails if we have a snowfall of adequate depth. Thank you for your cooperation. Last night,
John Beggs groomed from West Branch back to to Beartown Road. From there he
continued south to the groomer barn with the drag up riding on snirt. North
of West Branch, the trails remained in good condition and were not groomed.
Unfortunately, this may be the end of grooming on the Trailbusters trail
system for the season. There remains adequate snow levels north of West
Branch, but it is thinning fast. With the warmer temperatures and sun
forecast for the upcoming week, it may end quickly. The 15 day
forecast does not look good for extending the season.
March 3, 2010 - Dave Piersall groomed from West Branch to
West Leyden (C7 & C4A), over to Point Rock (C4I) and back to West
Branch. The frame on #6 was welded yesterday and the guys are putting the
tracks back on today. February 27, 2010 - Last night Neil Sestito groomed
from the groomer barn to West Leyden (C7 & C4A) and back. John Beggs and
Vera Beggs/Lance Blood (split run) groomed south (C7 & C7D) to Lee
Center (C4H), down to the Beeches (S73B) and Chestnut Street (S72B) and back.
The warm temperatures overnight were not good for grooming. Don't expect the
trails to hold. Early bird gets the worm. Groomers will be out grooming both south and north
tonight. February 5, 2010 - Last Night John Beggs and Neil Sestito groomed from
West Branch (Converse Road) to West Leyden (C7 & C4A), over to Point Rock (C4I) and back to West Branch.
South trails are open with thin cover, but not enough to groom. We will be
grooming the north end tonight and tomorrow night. Good Morning, -9 F braved the cold to check the trail. A couple inches tops in areas, most fields are wind blown down to ice. The woods have a couple inches tops and less south of West Branch. Culvert near Beartown got washed out but you can go around it, still no snow there to help it out. North of East Ava Road and Point Rock trail, in the woods, are good for snow. Southern Tug groomed but they have at least 3 inches. Boonville south trail was not groomed but snow covered. If we get any snow we will groom, pray for snow. Looks like Sunday evening at best. Thanks Dave for braving the cold and giving us the report! January 14, 2010 - Neil Sestito and Jim Vaccaro groomed from the groomer
barn to West Leyden and back (C7 & C4A). January 8, 2010 - #6 is repaired and running well. The left rear drive sprocket failed and required replacement at a total cost of $1,300. The sprocket alone cost $1,070. A big thank you is extended to John Beggs, Darwin Piersall, David Piersall, Pete Schipano, Eve Aldridge, Lance Blood and Pete for their help in the repair which was completed on the trail. After the repairs were completed, John Beggs and Lance Blood groomed from Townline Road to Camroden Road (C7D) and then back to the groomer barn (C7D & C7). Conditions are pretty good, but we need more snow on the south end. Tonight, both groomers will be out grooming the main corridor in both the south and north direction. January 7, 2010 - Neil Sestito and Pete Schipano groomed from the groomer barn to West Leyden (C7 & C4A) and to Point Rock (C41) and back last night. The parts for #6 should be in today and repaired hopefully by tomorrow. January 6, 2010 - Not good. Both groomers are down and it looks like it could be the end of the week before we are able to groom again. John Beggs and his crew know what the problems are and how to fix them, but it will take time and manpower to get it done. UPDATE: We had a miscommunication on the running condition of #7 (the new to us groomer). Neil Sestito will be taking it north tonight to West Leyden and Point Rock. Parts have been ordered for #6 and is being fixed on the trail. January 5, 2010 - Last night John Beggs groomed from the barn to the Delta Lake State Park (C7P) and Camroden Road (C7D). On the way back, the steering went to hell in #6 (old groomer). The groomer is parked on the trail just past Eggan Excavating on Townline Road. Please use caution in that area. January 4, 2010 - The south end of the system now has enough snow to groom. Last night, John Beggs and Lance Blood groomed from the groomer barn to Lee Center (C4H), then down to the Beeches (C7D & S73B) and Chestnut Street (S72B) and back (C7D). John said there was pretty good snow cover, but thin in the typical low snow corners. Yesterday, Neil Sestito and Dave Piersall groomed from West Branch to Point Rock (C41) and back to the groomer barn (C7D). Neil reported thin snow in the woods. Tonight, the south end will be groomed to the Delta Lake State Park (C7P) and Camroden Road (C7D) and back to the barn. Overall, conditions are pretty good with some thin cover in areas. January 3, 2010 - Mark Destito groomed from the groomer barn to West Leyden last night (C7 & C4A). Today, the Point Rock trail (C41) will be groomed. Still not enough snow on the south end to groom. January 1, 2010 - Happy New Year. Dave Piersall groomed the Point Rock trail yesterday (C41). Lets hope it keeps snowing. We are getting closer to having enough snow to groom south. December 31, 2009 - Dave and Neil groomed from the groomer barn to West Leyden last night (C7 & C4A). However, they were not able to groom over to Point Rock as they spent a lot of time staking/brushing the trail along the way. The new to us groomer ran well. The south end of the system has minimal snow cover and cannot be groomed. December 30, 2009 - Consensus is there is just enough snow on the north end of the system to commence grooming. Tonight Dave Piersall and Neil Sestito will take out our new to us groomer for the initial run of the season. Check back tomorrow to see what was groomed and how things went. The south end of the system is open, but snow cover is minimal and conditions are fair at best. Bottom line - we need more snow. December 29, 2009 - Some well needed snow fell yesterday and last night. Trails are open, but there is still not enough to groom. Please stay on the trail on C7D near Dopp Hill Road. There is a freshly planted alfalfa filed that we must stay off of. Ride safe! December 9th, 2009 - The first real snowfall of the season with 5"-6" of wet snow. Trails remain closed due to inadequate snowcover. Please respect the landowners by waiting until we have more snow for that first ride. Thank you.

Please
Note:
Please be aware of trail changes and stay on the trails.
We are so grateful to our landowners who give us permission to have a
trail on their land so please RESPECT them.
You are also reminded to yield the right of way to a groomer.
When meeting a groomer in tight places, move off the trail as far as
possible and stay there until the
groomer and drag passes by you to avoid sliding down into the equipment.
The groomer cannot move off the trail nor back up. When following a
groomer, stay back 100
feet until you can safely pass or are given the signal by the operator
to pass. Always dim your headlights when meeting or following a
groomer as the high beams blind the driver. | |
