It’s time to look forward to another snowmobiling season! Summer seemed non-existent and fall seems to be here already. We hope everyone is going to renew memberships and registrations early so when the snow comes there are no last minute scrambles to get this done. Club renewals started coming in during August, both directly to the club as well as on-line. For club members who do not use internet, attached is a membership renewal form for your convenience. Complete form and mail along with your check to the club address shown above. Internet users can renew memberships online at www.trailbusters.net or www.nyssnowassoc.org. You pay by credit card and print your own voucher. Or you can print out a membership application at the club website, and mail along with your check to the club address.
Scholarship Winner: The Trailbusters awarded the annual scholarship of $250.00 to RFA June graduate Raymond E. Seymour of Rome. Raymond is attending RIT in Rochester and majoring in mechanical engineering.
Gas Receipts: Thanks to those who took the time to sign the sheet and deposit their sled gas receipts at the two local convenience stores. Seems like we could have done better what with the hundreds of sleds that buy gas there. Paying at the pump with no receipt to deposit is probably the problem. The state requires the receipt plus a signature on the sheet. The state refunded us $276.00. Maybe we can do better this season.
Safety Course: The safety course will be given on 4 and 5 December 09. Children must be 10 years old by that date. Pre-registration is required. More information will be provided later on our website as well as notices in the local papers.
Chicken BBQ: Our first try at this was held in April and the response was overwhelming. We hope to hold another one sometime this fall. Check the website for date.
Trail Work/Signage: There is the usual trail work to be done, bridge to be redecked, culvert installation and the trail signage. Please help with these jobs, contact any officer or send us an email with your name, number and days/times of availability.
Vice President Needed: Due to job relocation, we anticipate the resignation of our club vice president. We need a member willing to fill this position and provide leadership. Interested individuals should contact our president and attend the first meeting on Tuesday, 8 Sep 09 at 7:30 PM in the Lee Town Hall. Filling this position will be discussed at that time.
Groomer Fund: As you recall, the club contacted the membership requesting donations towards purchasing an updated groomer to replace our oldest 1989 Pisten Bully. A used 1995 PB-260DW with 2,700 hours on a total Cummins engine rebuild was purchased in Colorado. Our member Larry Casalenuovo donated his time/airfare and expenses to travel there to inspect the machine before purchase. Members and businesses donated anywhere from $10.00 to $500.00 towards this purchase. Our club bank, Rome Savings, very generously donated $1,000.00. We are grateful to those who donated whatever the amount. But what happened with the remaining 300 some members? It is not too late to send in a contribution. The club did not finance this groomer so it took a large chunk of our savings. Any amount you can afford to replenish the account would be appreciated. Please consider doing this. Thank you in advance.
Club Website: Will be updated as needed with daily grooming reports by 9 AM when grooming starts.
Club Meetings: First meeting, Tuesday, 8 Sep, 7:30 PM, Lee Town Hall; 13 Oct/10 Nov/8 Dec/12 Jan/9 Feb/9Mar/13 Apr – Mark your calendars and plan to attend meetings.
