2007-2008 Meeting Schedule:   Lee Town Hall, Stokes-Lee Center Road - 7:30 PM – 11 Sep 07; 9 Oct 07; 13 Nov 07; 11 Dec 07; 8 Jan 08; 12 Feb 08; 11 Mar 08; 8 Apr 08   -      Mark your calendars!

Hello All:  It doesn’t seem possible that  it is that time again to be thinking snow, but time is moving fast, and a lot of work awaits ahead before trails are ready for another season.  As far as trail changes for this year, we look at a very slight change due to M&M Collision relocating onto our trail along State Route 26N.  Our trail will now be relocated behind the business.  There will be a trail relocation in the State Route 46 area past the State Fish Hatchery and Pennystreet Road.  Detailed information will be provided when relocation is finalized.

Club Membership:  The Trailbusters welcome your membership renewals as well as new members.  The club already has the required vouchers to issue for renewing your sled registration.  NYSSA is requesting clubs provide them with more information on our members so we produced a new membership application to include those questions (attached).  Please complete this form completely when submitting your application and mail to the address above.   Be sure to include an email address if you have one so the club can save on postage by emailing newsletters and provide information to you more quickly and more often.  Please print that address clearly as the email won’t go through if we read it incorrectly.  Be sure to keep us updated, too, if you change your email address.

For those who have email, you can renew memberships or join the club online.  You can then print your voucher as soon as you complete the application.   Actually, NYSSA is promoting club memberships using this route to speed the process and cut down on the clubs’ workload.  Renew through our website, www.trailbusters.net or directly to www.nyssnowassoc.org.

We urge all snowmobilers to renew/register their sleds early.  Late registrations, which were the case last season due to late snowfall, caused a shortage in state trail funding to the clubs.  State funding is based on the number of registrations paid by the end of November.  This funding deficit to the clubs found many of them scrambling to pay the bills when expected money was not received.

Gas Receipts:  The Trailbusters received a check from the state of New York for the gas receipts we collected last season and sent in for a refund of 8 cents per gallon for gas used in snowmobiles.  Thanks to all who deposited these slips at Stewart’s and Nice N Easy, both on State Route 26N.  We plan on doing this again at these two locations only.  Please plan ahead and remember to deposit them inside the store.  If you don’t see the container with our name on it (sometimes it is hid behind the counter), just ask the clerk to save yours for the club.  Thanks in advance.

Trail Workers:   As always, there will be a lot of trail work, signing, brushing, rerouting, bridge building (Lee Center trail for one).  We have the usual faithful workers but always need more.  Get involved and call or email any of the officers listed above with your name, phone number and days/times available to be put on the list.   Our bulldozer has been out on the Sly Hill trail just after the Stokes-Westernville Road crossing heading north to widen the corner by removing some trees.  This clearing will give the groomer more space to make the corner as well as providing better visibility for sledders.  Trail brush hogging has also started.  Both groomers are torn down, necessary parts were ordered and are expected this week.

Website:  Don’t forget to keep checking our website, www.trailbusters.net.  Our webmaster Joe McCarthy has done great things with it and promises more. Club newsletters are posted here as well as trail grooming schedules and reports when it all starts.

Club Scholarship Winner:   In June the Trailbusters awarded the annual $250.00 scholarship to Matt Hoke from RFA.  Matt will be attending SUNY Oswego in the technology education program.  Congratulations Matt!

Big East Show:  For your planning purposes, this year’s Big East Show will be held at the ONCenter, Syracuse, on 5 – 7 Oct 07.

Boonville Snow Festival II:  This will be held at the Boonville Fairgrounds on 25, 26 and 27 Jan 08.
