Website: www.trailbusters.net September 2006 NEXT MEETING: TUESDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER - 7:30 PM – LEE TOWN HALL A warm welcome to our many new members! We also appreciate our faithful members who have renewed early this season. Can it be summer is ending and another riding season is around the corner? We encourage all members, new and old, to attend our monthly meetings and to participate in the activities required to keep the club up and running successfully. The club lost its vice president this summer due to a work promotion that took him out of state. If there is a member out there interested in filling this position, please contact any officer listed above. Summer Gas Grill Raffle: The winner was Charlie Sprock of Rome. Club member J. T. Sprock purchased the lucky ticket for his Dad. Our thanks to the members who purchased or sold their raffle tickets. The club realized a profit of $560.00. 2006 Scholarship Recipient: In June the Trailbusters awarded a $250.00 scholarship to Kristopher Taffner of Rome, NY. This scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior pursuing a career in technology. Thank you to club members John Beggs and Bob Spindler for their assistance in selecting the winner. Easter Seals Donation: The New York State Snowmobile Association is an annual supporter of the Easter Seals and asked each club to donate $100.00 to this organization. The Trailbusters voted to donate this amount to Easter Seals in March. New Well at Groomer Building: At our April meeting, members voted to have a well drilled at the groomer barn. In June, Lee Bates & Sons drilled a 102 foot deep well which provides plenty of good water to wash our equipment and keep the building clean. Many thanks to Larry Casalenuovo for digging the trench and connecting the submersible pump, and to Darwin Piersall for doing the backfilling and grading. Gas Receipts Refund: The club received a small gas tax refund from the gas receipts collected last season at Stewart's and Nice N Easy. Hope next winter provides for more riding/more gas receipts/larger refund as we plan on collecting them once again at these locations on Route 26/Rome. Safety Course: This course will be offered to youth ten and over the first weekend of December (1 and 2 Dec) at the groomer building. If you have children who need this course, mark your calendar with these dates and further information on registering will be in later newsletters. Trails: We are in the process of checking with our landowners for trail permission for this season. It seems there are problems in every direction with new homes being built, landowner changes, etc. We will keep you posted as we go along on changes and our progress or lack of same. One major problem to report is the culvert washout on Gulf Road affecting our trail to Westernville. Gulf road is now closed and we have been informed that the culvert will not be repaired by the city of Rome until next year. As we travel over this culvert to connect to our trail on the other side of the road, a reroute (if possible) will have to be found or else the trail will end there. A lot of work lies ahead for the club to get the trails ready which means lots of help is needed! Get your name on the workers list by notifying Mark at 336-1727 or Millie at 336-5089 or email indytraks@twcny.rr.com. Email Addresses: Emailing the club newsletter makes this task much simpler, faster and more cost effective. If you are not on our email list, please provide your address. We will be sending email grooming reports as well as any pertinent trail information as it happens. Don't be left out. Club Memberships: Memberships for 1 Sep to 31 Aug 07 are $25 single and $25 family. Download membership application from our website. Voucher for DMV sled registration discount will be mailed to you upon receipt of your membership application and check. Don't Forget the Meeting on Tuesday, the 12th of September! |
