NEXT MEETING: TUESDAY, 11 APRIL - 7:30 PM – LEE TOWN HALL

The worst winter for snowmobiling has ended and spring is here, or is it? We can just hope that we never see another season like it and possibly next year will make up for what we didn’t have. One can only hope. We have one more season meeting to go on 11 April. However, this will be our last newsletter until August. Our email list for newsletters has grown considerably and it is our hope that shortly every member will be receiving the newsletter via email. This would result in considerable savings in postage and would be more convenient to disseminate. Additionally, email members get periodic reports as news warrants and are advised of trail conditions and grooming reports. Send your email addresses to indytraks@twcny.rr.com.

TRAIL INFORMATION AND THANKS: Now that the trails are closed, we want to thank first and foremost all our landowners who granted us permission to establish a trail on their property. Our deepest appreciation to you all – without use of your land we go no where. A big thank you to our groomer operators for doing the best they could with what little they had to work with at times, and for maintaining the equipment in ship shape. And thank you to the volunteers who signed the trails and worked to improve them by installing culverts, brushing and widening trails where possible. We will continue to improve the system this summer to eliminate some water holes, bulldoze where needed and work on a trail to the west.

2006-2007 Memberships and SRRA: As you are probably aware, to register a snowmobile next year the fee will be the same ($45.00 per sled) IF you are a snowmobile club member and $100.000 per sled IF you are not a member. To register your sled at the lower fee, you will be required to show proof of membership to a club. Right now the state and NYSSA are working on just how this will be handled. Also, our club membership fee will remain the same ($25.00 per member and $25.00 per family) and will include NYSSA membership. The Oneida County Snowmobile Association has requested all Oneida County clubs to charge the same fee for memberships. Our club memberships will be effective 1 September 2006 through 31 August 2007. As soon as we learn what the Department of Motor Vehicles needs for proof of club membership, this information and documentation will be provided you. All new memberships as well as renewals will be accepted anytime before the aforementioned date of 1 September.

Sled Raffle: We are considering a snowmobile raffle as a fundraiser for next season. This will be voted on at Tuesday’s meeting. Ticket price and details will be discussed.

Gas Receipts: Thanks to all who saved their gas receipts for the club. The number of receipts collected this season was way down from last year. (Understandably)

See you at the meeting Tuesday evening! Have a nice summer and hope to have you all back next fall.
