TRAILBUSTERS SNOWMOBILE CLUB, INC.PO BOX 193
LEE CENTER, NY 13363
Nov/Dec 2007
Snow
flurries are in the weather forecast so its time to get down to serious
business for the season ahead. Both
groomers had the tracks off, new torsion bars and other parts replaced, along
with grease and oil changes. A new
windshield was installed due to a crack.
Hopefully, after expending around $8,000 for parts on both machines, along with
countless hours spent by our talented volunteers led by Larry Casalenuovo,
servicing them, we look to groom this season without down time for major
repairs.
As
mentioned above, the club has spent much money on the equipment, in addition to
the high cost of filling the diesel tank for the groomers as well as the propane
tank to heat the building. Further,
the clubs in the county still have not received the 30% trail funding
checks. More money is going out
than coming in. We could use a good
fundraiser at this point. Any
suggestions? Better yet, anyone
willing to volunteer to head one up?
If so, please contact Mark or any one of the officers listed above.
Regarding
Club Memberships they expired 31
Aug 07. Renewals for this time of
the year are down from last year.
Hopefully, these members have not gone away but are only waiting for the
first snowfall. Your membership
money would be very welcome to help pay the bills. A membership form was sent in the
Sep/Oct newsletter. Memberships can
be renewed by visiting the club website at http://www.trailbusters.net/. Here you can print out a membership form
and mail it to the club address with your check or renew online with your credit
card and print your voucher instantly. If you have any questions
regarding this, call the club secretary, Millie at 336-5089. Renewals not received by the club by the
end of November will be dropped from the membership
list.
Snowmobile
Registrations: We urge snowmobilers to register their
sleds by the first of December. The
total state pay out is based on sled registrations received by that date. Even though registration monies received
after that date are not lost to the clubs, funding comes late. No one likes getting a late pay
check. Area trails can open on 3
Dec after the hunting season ends, provided there is enough
snow. Check for updates on
the club website.
The
club will again be using the large bridge (C4H) between Thomas Street Road and
Hawkins Corners. This bridge has
not been used for several years due to a trail reroute. Reopening the bridge this year will
enable us to keep the sled traffic from using the shoulder of Marsh Road. This bridge is 110 feet long with 22
foot ramps on each end. Again, a
small handful of volunteers stripped this entire bridge, hauled away the debris
and re-decked it in three days. An
email was sent to 150 members requesting help for this project and a
disappointing four new workers answered the call. We still have bridges to build/install.
Trail reroute on C4A at State Route 26N and Vary Road was completed this week
due to a new home being built on the property. The trail reroute (C7D) near the State
Fish Hatchery/State Route 46N is in the works with one piece of property
unsettled there until the end of the month due to pending property sale. Two bridges have been removed from the
property which the trail was on last year.
Be aware of trail changes on our system and stay on the trail! Respect landowners,
please.
We need volunteers to pound in
stakes. The strong and able
are requested to contact Mark or Dennis (numbers above) with times you are
available. A club member familiar
with the trails will accompany you.
Safety

will be holding the safety course at our groomer building on Sly Hill Road, on
Friday evening, 30 Nov from 6 PM to 9:30 PM, and Saturday, 1 December from 9 AM
to 1:30 PM. Youth must be 10 years
of age by course completion date.

Annual
Trail Party/Sunday 3 Feb 08:
Mark your calendar. This is for members and landowners and
will be held at the groomer barn on Sly Hill Road. Ride in with your sled or drive your
vehicle, either way. Food and soft
drinks, coffee and hot chocolate will be served. Remember the date, Sunday, 3 Feb 08,
from Noon to 3 PM.
Email
addresses: Be sure to inform the club if you change
your email address. If you dont
have an email now but may in the future, let us know so newsletters can be
emailed, thus saving postage costs.
Christmas
Party: We have had some great Christmas parties in the past,
usually held the week after New Years.
Anyone out there willing to organize one? We have had entertaining auctions along
with the parties which also proved to be
successful fundraisers. If you or you and a friend would like to
organize one, please give any officer a call. We need to act soon as the holiday
season is fast approaching.
Gas
Receipts: Reminder to deposit your sled gas
purchases from Stewarts on Route 26N in Stokes and Nice N Easy on State Route
26N/Hawkins Corners with the cashiers at the stores. The club will apply for a .08 cent
return on each gallon purchased for sleds.
Snowmobile
Shoot-Out in Woodgate: This annual event is held at the Fish
& Game Club and will be held on Friday/7 Dec 07.
